Seaside, Florida - in 1946 the grandfather of Robert Davis bought this 80 acre tract on Florida's Gulf coast for his personal retreat. In 1979 Robert inherited the tract and set out to make it one of America's first master planned communities, laid out as an old fashioned beach town with a small central commercial square, radiating pedestrian ways and cobblestone streets. Today it is an incredibly beautiful and relaxing community of about 300 homes. As all the land is privately owned the community has full control over all building ordinances: all homes are unique, they do not have front yards, but have requirements for porches and balconies. All vegetation is native and no sod is allowed. It's very pedestrian friendly and you can easily walk anywhere you want to go. Its a wonderful place to live or just visit.
